A Brief Analysis on the English Teaching in Senior High School under the New Sit

In today's world there is more and higher demand to people'sEnglish ability, and people are paying more and more attention toEnglish teaching.
1. Literature Review
After entering in twenty-first Century, our country's Englishteaching of senior high school has carried on a series of reforms:
the quality education, the use of the new teaching material, theissue of “new curriculum standard” .
2. The problems in English Teaching in Senior High Schoolunder the new situation
2.1 The grammar translation method
Grammar translation method attaches great importance to thecultivation of the ability of reading and translation, the teachingof grammar knowledge, but ignores the cultivation of languageskills, the teaching of pronunciation and vocabulary is out of linewith the text reading teaching .
2.2 The direct method
Comparing to classical grammar translation method, directmethod is a great progress in the history of teaching, but it isproposed completely in view of the drawbacks of the grammartranslation method, itself have inevitably its limitations and onesidedness, in teaching it emphasize on experience, perceptualknowledge, and lacks of awareness of people consciousness, do notpay enough attention on literary accomplishment. For many languagephenomenon, students only know how but do not know why.
2.3 The audiolingual method
The audiolingual method was produced in the United Statesof America after the outbreak of the Second World War. Theaudiolingual method apply the research results of the languagestructure analysis into the foreign language teaching, thepreparation of materials and arrangement of teaching process hasa scientific basis. It is undoubtedly very important contributionand progress for enhancing effect of foreign language teachingand accelerating the process of foreign language teaching, butthe audiolingual method emphasizes too much on mechanicaltraining, ignores the guiding role of the language rules,emphasizes too much the formation of language structure, ignoresthe content and meaning of the language, which is in mere“artificial” language preference.
2.4 The audio-visual method
The audio-visual method originated in France in the 1950s,which is a kind of method of France at that time for foreignadults in short term intensive teaching. The audio-visual methodcarries forward the strengths of the direct method and theaudiolingual method, which used widely the structure of sound,light, electricity in teaching. The auditory image helps to developthe correct ability and habit of pronunciation, intonation, rhythmand diction, sentence making. The shortcoming of the audiovisual method is that it attaches great importance to the languageform, neglects the cultivation of communicative competence,emphasizes too much on the whole structure, ignores the analysis,explanation and training of language.
2.5 The cognitive method
The cognitive method was firstly proposed by famousAmerican psychologist Carrol in 1960s, which is produced asthe opposite side of the audiolingual method. It emphasizes theimportance of understanding in foreign language teaching, studentsshould have creative communication based on the understanding ofthe new language materials, creates situation and communication inforeign language teaching by the wide use of audio-visual aids. Thecognitive method regards cognitive psychology as the theoreticalbasis, so that foreign language teaching method will be establishedon the more scientific basis, but as a new independent foreignlanguage teaching method system, the cognitive method is still notperfect, must be enriched from the theory and practice.
Of course, there are other problems.
3. The requirements of English teaching in senior high schoolunder the new situation
3.1 Establishing the main body position of studentsIn teaching activities, students are the main body, the role ofteachers shall be responsible for the organization, guidance, helpand monitoring, and guides the students learn to know, learn todo, lets students experience the process of knowledge acquisition,pays attention to the development of students' ability, promotesall-round development of their knowledge and skills, process andmethods, attitudes and sense of worth, establishes the class modelof independent exploration and cooperative learning, and creates aharmonious, loose, democratic class environment. The establishmentof students' subject status reflects the rise of people's awareness, thatis, the problems of “teaching whom” is the first place in teaching.
3.2 The reasonable arrangement of design processIn the process of English Teaching in senior high school,teaching design is a very important process. In the process ofteaching, reasonable design can make the students pay attention tocontent of teaching, and the English class teaching in senior highschool achieve its effectiveness.
3.3 Selecting diversity teaching methods
Because of its own characteristics of English subjects, the methods in the traditional English teaching process are mainlypractice method and teaching method. In the process of Englishteaching in senior high school, we should innovate the teachingprocess, and choose various teaching methods in the course ofteaching.
3.4 Creating classroom atmosphere
Creating a pleasant and harmonious classroom atmosphere isvery important for the protection of students' learning motivation.
While learning a new language, students should pay attention topronunciation, intonation, grammar and language meaning at thesame time, which is very difficult to learn .
3.5 Focusing on Cultural Education
At present, culture has become a focus of language teaching,and it is an important embodiment of the test of teaching results.
As we all know, vocabulary is the smallest unit of languageexpression. There are not sentences without words, there are notarticles without sentences. To read a sentence, you must firstlyunderstand the meaning of the words; to read the article, youmust understand the meaning of the sentences. The researchresults show that when the new words in an article is more than5%, it will have an effect on reading. Therefore, it is necessaryto do a good job of vocabulary teaching, expand constantly thevocabulary of students, and eliminate the obstacles to the students'
reading. On the one hand, we must guide students to rememberthe words according to the rules of pronunciation, strengtheningthe memory of sense, and reducing the mechanical memory. Onthe other hand, we must grasp the dictation, reading, reciting,competition, games and other activities to strengthen memory;through the continuous circulation to strengthen regularly anddeepen the impression and guide them to memorize new wordscombining to the use of daily communication and avoid rote.
Focusing on vocabulary teaching, we must know that cultureand language are an inseparable whole, culture teaching is a veryimportant part of English teaching. Teachers should consider fullycultural factors, in the process of most important lexical teachingof the language teaching, they should pay especially positiveattention to the cultural import, enhance the cultural connotationof the students, cultivate students' sentiment, guide the studentsto establish a correct outlook on life, values, and improve thestudents' comprehensive quality.
